Learning time is easier to plan when it has a place on the calendar. In Charlie Greenman’s “Make room for learning alongside the work,” he discusses the 5-hour rule from his article “Reading”: an hour a day, or five hours across a workweek, for learning or practice.
That’s a useful scheduling distinction for anyone balancing professional development with daily work. It turns a general intention to keep learning into time that can be planned alongside other commitments.
