Two AI writing approaches, two different kinds of poem

Abstracts

The more elaborate AI writing workflow did not simply produce a better poem; it produced a different kind of poem. In “I asked the same AI to write the sky twice,” I compared a single prompt with a complex agent graph. The single-prompt poem, “The Unroofing,” felt intimate and embodied. The graph-engineered poem, “The Near Side of Nothing,” offered a coherent, explanatory view.

That distinction matters when choosing a creative workflow. If the aim is immediacy, more structure may not be the right default; if the aim is a clear, developed perspective, it may help. I came away interested in combining the approaches rather than treating either one as the winner.
