How earlier feeding experience can clarify a latch concern

Abstracts

A parent's experience feeding older children can help make a new latch concern more specific.

In the parent account on my “Tongue Tie — Lactation Consultant NYC” page, a mother describes noticing something different about her third baby's tongue when the baby wasn't latching well. She says she hadn't encountered the same issue with her other children.

That comparison is useful in a feeding conversation. It gives us a concrete observation to discuss alongside the latch difficulty, rather than treating “not latching well” as the whole story.
