Tongue tie: taking a parent’s latch concern seriously

A parent’s account on my “Tongue Tie — Lactation Consultant NYC” page shows why a latch concern deserves a closer look rather than a quick assumption. She describes noticing something different about her third baby’s tongue—something she had not encountered with her other children—while the baby was having trouble latching. She says I saw her and sent her to a specialist, who saw them the next day.
That sequence matters in lactation support: listen to what the parent has noticed, consider the feeding difficulty in context, and involve a specialist when appropriate. One family’s experience does not mean every difficult latch has the same cause.
