Starting solids and continuing breastfeeding

Abstracts

Starting solid foods does not have to mean stopping breastfeeding.

In “Breastfeeding: When And How To Start Solid Foods,” I discuss the World Health Organization’s recommendation of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and note that breastfeeding can continue after solids are introduced. That distinction matters in lactation conversations: introducing another way to feed a baby and deciding when to wean are not the same decision.
