Designing agent products that know what they don't know

Most of the interesting problems in agent product design aren't about generating more output, they're about deciding when not to. Building ProfileScribe and its crawler prototype meant designing for restraint: an agent that can gather evidence, propose a draft, and still leave the final claim unresolved if the evidence is thin. That's a harder product problem than it sounds, because the easy failure mode is a system that always has something confident to say. The more useful one says less when it should. That's the design bar this work is held to.
