Making written ideas easier to examine

Abstracts

A fixed piece of writing can preserve an argument without being the only way to understand it. In “The Age of Reading—and Writing—Is Over,” I argue that AI can offer different representations of the same source, giving people a way to question ideas rather than only consume a finished text.

That distinction matters in my work on ProfileScribe, which connects professional work to sources and puts draft updates through a review queue. A readable summary is useful, but the person reviewing it also needs to be able to judge whether its claims reflect the underlying work. The goal isn’t to remove reading or writing; it’s to make the material easier to examine.
